Website Update
Here are the major changes:
Music: You can turn it off if you want, or I can leave it off all
together. It is only for the home page, and if you have another idea for
the music, let me know.
Photos: The photos moving across the top will be available in a regular
photo gallery so you can see the full photo. The first five images are
ones that came with the template, the remaining photos are of our own
members and their flights. That is what I want the photo gallery to be,
that of our members, and what they have flown or worked on. More photos
will be added as people send them to me.
The menu bar across the top has links that drop down to the bar just
below it. They are mouse over links so that you just have to put your
mouse over the subject you want and the other menus appear. Then by
clicking on the sub-menu, the item or link will open up.
Search Bar: This uses the Google interface, and it will only search our
website.
Right hand side…..Charts and weather: The charts and weather boxes on
the right side of the home page are actual conditions with real time
updates including the approach charts and notams. The colored circles
next to the airport identifiers show red
for IFR,
yellow for marginal VFR, and
green for VFR. They work
perfectly, except Gillespie. For some reason, SEE stops updating
periodically. I will have to speak to Roger about this. If you click on
the airport, it brings up a lot of data from Flight Central, which is
where the weather comes from, with their permission. The notams are
updated in real time, as are the Approach charts. The approach charts
are updated automatically every 28 days.
Left Menu Bar:
Site Map is a drop down menu showing the About, Advocacy, Meetings,
Membership pages. They come up on the home page.
GPA Calendar: This are a lot of ways to configure this calendar. You can
print it out, or export it to Outlook or other mail programs.
What’s New, Current News, Recent Events: These will be updated on a
regular basis and kept up to date. The scrolling is for your immediate
attention, and What's New will be used for updates to the website, or
anything else that needs your attention.
Center Section: This can be used for anything we want in the future.
Let me know your thoughts and ideas, and send more photos of your
airplanes. Let me know also if something does not work.
Thanks,
Jim
